Installing on
WP Engine

WP Engine is one of the cleanest WordPress for Cowork integrations. No special configuration needed for /wp-setup. Three things to be aware of.

Disallowed plugins list

WP Engine maintains a list of plugins they don’t allow. If you ever ask Claude to install a plugin, WP Engine may reject it silently. Check the WPE User Portal → Plugins → Disallowed Plugins if an install doesn’t take.

Edge cache ignores REST

WP Engine’s edge cache is aggressive on pages but ignores the REST API by default, so reads through Claude are always fresh.

Use the right login

When installing Cowork Bridge, log into wp-admin as your WordPress admin user — not your WP Engine User Portal account. The two are separate.

Install

wp-admin → Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, upload cowork-bridge.zip, Activate. Cowork → Status rows should all be green.
