Bluehost is generally compatible with WordPress for Cowork out of the box. Two things to know.
Jetpack comes pre-installed
Bluehost WordPress installs ship with Jetpack already active. Jetpack’s Brute force protection can intercept REST API traffic and return 403s during /wp-setup.
- Open wp-admin → Jetpack → Settings → Security.
- Temporarily disable Brute force protection while you run
/wp-setup. - Re-enable it after pairing completes. Once Cowork Bridge is active and paired, Jetpack’s protection plays nicely with the established trust.
Endurance Page Cache
Bluehost’s Endurance Page Cache sometimes returns stale REST responses for up to 60 seconds. If you ask Claude to update something and the change doesn’t reflect immediately, wait a minute or purge from the WordPress admin bar.
Install
wp-admin → Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, upload cowork-bridge.zip, Activate. Then check Cowork → Status for the green rows.
