Several AI tools touch WordPress today. Each has a different scope. This article describes WordPress for Cowork’s positioning fairly so you can pick what fits.
The space
- AI page builders in wp-admin (Divi AI, Elementor AI, Bricks AI) — generate sections inside their builders. Single-page focus. Stay inside the wp-admin tab.
- AI content writers (WPWriter, Jasper for WordPress, GetGenie) — generate blog posts and product descriptions. Content-focused.
- WordPress for Cowork — manages the entire site from Claude Cowork. 125 tools across content, design, WooCommerce, comments, users, backups, diagnostics.
What we do well
- Breadth: the only one that can publish a post, update WooCommerce inventory, moderate comments, and back up your site in the same conversation.
- WooCommerce depth: 30 product/order/customer tools.
- Backups built in: automatic daily + on-demand + partial restore.
- Bring your own AI: uses your Claude Pro subscription. No separate AI charge layered on us.
What we don’t do (yet)
- Auto-blogging on a schedule. Some competitors (WPWriter) auto-blog daily without human approval. We require explicit approval on each post.
- Inline page-builder UI. We don’t replace Divi or Elementor — we drive them or use Gutenberg blocks instead.
- Non-WordPress platforms. Joomla, Drupal, Shopify aren’t in scope.
Total cost of ownership
Year one on a typical small business setup:
- WordPress for Cowork Solo: $99 (one-time) + $204 Claude Pro annual = $303/year.
- WPWriter Blogger (annual): $182 + your AI provider tokens (separate, BYOK).
- WPWriter Pro (annual): $470 + your AI provider tokens.
Numbers reflect WPWriter’s public pricing page at time of writing. We don’t tax their growth — you can scale to many WordPress sites under your Solo license without any extra fee from us.
When to pick something else
- You only want auto-blogging and you’re OK without the rest — WPWriter is more specialized.
- You’re inside Elementor or Divi for everything and want AI inside that builder — their native AI is closer to that workflow.
- You’re not on WordPress.
